The mission of the Implementation Committee is to drive implementation of jointly developed PCATS standards in the convenience retail and motor fuels industries through education and promotion of their business benefits. The Chair of the Committee is Software Application Support Manager Bob Sleeper of CHR Corp. (dba Rutter's Farm Stores) and the Vice Chair is Senior Manager of Store Systems Development and Maintenance James Maxey of Valero Energy Corporation.
Members of the Committee have been increasing the visibility of PCATS-NAXML standards implementations through communication and education efforts. Committee members work closely with NACS to publish articles regularly in the NACS Magazine. In addition, the committee assists with the development of PCATS workshops.
In 2007, the committee developed readiness assessment tools for retailers, suppliers and solution providers. These readiness assessments may be used as an information gathering mechanism as companies plan their move into electronic commerce. The assessments are designed to help retailers identify areas where they may require external support or aid as well as the major concerns or gaps with their supplier partners (or solution providers) that would prevent them from being able to engage in electronic message exchange.
The Implementation Committee plans to establish an Implementation Support Team in the near future and is considering the development of industry Implementation Guidelines.
