It has been several months (August 2008) since I last updated this blog, but with the rapid pace of our efforts I have committed to providing a timelier update to you. The PCATS community continues to grow and be a positive force in the retail community. Many of you have worked hard in the various committees and working groups to define and publish standards that will help improve your operations. I applaud and thank you for all your efforts. I commit to making sure that the entire community knows about these accomplishments.
Most of you have probably noticed in the last several weeks the intensity of emails coming to you from our website (www.pcats.org). The reason for this is that I have added a new notification module to the site. This module informs everyone in any particular committee of not only new documents, but also updates to existing documents and other notifications. This was done because I want to make sure that you are aware of all activity in your subscribed groups. You may find though that you get too many emails now. There is a simple solution to this problem. As part of the new module, a way for you to control the notifications has been added. Simply logon to the website and click on ‘My account’. You will see your profile along with several tabs; one labeled ‘Notifications’. Select the ‘Notifications’ tab and you now have the ability to choose what notifications that you will receive for any of your subscribed groups. You may want to receive all notifications for some groups and a limited set for others. You are in control of this feature and I encourage taking advantage of it.
We at PCATS want to ensure that you are getting the most from your membership. There is so much activity in our community that you should be able to find an area of particular interest to you and your company. We encourage active participation in the groups, but we also realize that you are all busy people and sometimes that is not possible. That is okay too. Please let the PCATS staff know how we can help you make the most of your membership. If you want more information about any committee or other standards work, please drop me a note at swood@pcats.org.
